:: Two or three things ::

Hello my dears,
As the first week of the year comes to a close, I want to share with you a bit of what went on this week here at Mimilove.

Long walks by the ocean and precious time spent with children and grandchildren was at the top of my list.

Next, some leisure shopping was in order. Not much of course, nothing really  big, just fun stuff.

Well, to be perfectly honest I went into my favorite fabric store to pick up a half yard of lining fabric, but this is how it went;

This is what I went in for

This is what was on sale.  (Dirt cheap too!!!)

This is what I absolutely fell in love with  :)

An this is what I just had to take home with me.

I did find a few other things, (in the yarn department) but maybe I'll share that later.
Not too shabby for some afternoon liesure shopping. And all of it for a song. Really the sale was great!!!

Well my darlings, I guess this is it for now. next week I will share my little storage basket trio. They are done, but I still can't decide whether or not to line them. Let's see what happens over the weekend. Ya?

Many blessings to all and have a fantastic weekend.    :0)

One more holiday. :)

It's not over yet!!! Tonight in many parts of the world children are preparing for one more exciting holiday. I am referring to Three kings day, or Epiphany, or Little Christmas. Which is celebrated on the sixth of January.
It is the day when supposedly the wise men found baby Jesus and offered  him gifts.
Traditionally children leave fresh grass in a shoe box under their beds for the wise men's camels to eat after their long journey. The wise men in return leave gifts for the children.
There are many different traditions surrounding this holiday. Most I am not familiar with, but I do know that there is party and merry making the entire day.
As a very small child I can remember leaving grass under my bed. And waking up to find a beautiful rag doll.(the only time I actually remember)  I wish that I would have continued this tradition with my own children. Although I don't remember to much about it. It seems like a nice holiday, or Little Christmas.
Tomorrow I will call my mom and ask her about the specifics.
For now, have a great weekend, and to those who are familiar with this day, Feliz dia de Reyes!!!

:: In the meantime ::

Hello my dears,
I hope that everyone had a wonderful end of 2011, and an even better new years day.

Mine was quiet and serene, and that's just how I like it. First, we had new years eve dinner with the youngest boy and his girlfriend, we made it home just in time to watch the ball drop in Time Square. (for my time zone).

New years day, was great, 85 gorgeous degrees, a walk on the beach, and our favorite pizza, Originals in Newport Beach, mmmm. :)

I am still trying to figure out what will be my next big crochet project. So, in the meantime, I decided that a little organizing would be a great idea, and what better way to start then with little catch all baskets. This one I'm making with Lily's Sugar and cream scented cotton yarn. It smells soft and flowery, so feminine.
Maybe it will hold some make up, or little hand towels in the bathroom. I'm not to sure yet. But I do know that I'll be making up a couple more this week. They are sooooo easy to make, and the scented yarn makes it even more enjoyable.

So, while I look for something big and significant to make, I will continue with my little baskets, and whatever little else comes to mind.

Wishing everyone a fantabulous first week of 2012!!!
