:: Twin Owlies ::

Good morning my dearies!!!!

This is indeed a good morning for I am finally done with two of my Christmas gifts.
I don't know if I mentioned it before, but I have certainly caught the amigurumi bug. I had no idea that creating little characters out of yarn could be so much fun!!!  And of course with Christmas being so close, I have been at it full time, and enjoying every minute of it.                                                                             Now that's not to say that I have abandoned my grannies. No, no, no, I already have a granny related little something on my hook, and a lap blanket ready to be assembled and finished.  All part of  "Santas Secret Workshop".
Well without any further ado, I present you with Tootsie and Lolly;

Tootsie and Lolly

I think they are adorable, don't  you???
I would like to credit and thank Mr. W.  for the great photos.

And now back to work, two more little critters to be finished and whatever else comes to mind after that.

Bye for now my dears, have a great rest of your lovely day.     ;0)

:: Missing Elephant has been found ::

This just in,

Helga, the amigurumi Elephant which had been missing since Thanksgiving day has been found.
She was hiding deep in the warm coziness of my scarf drawer. How she got there still remains a mystery. All I know is that she is in very good shape, with not one stitch missing.

Have a good one y'all

:: It's the small things ::

Good evening to all !!!

I can't believe what a slow and laaaazy Sunday this has been. I have barely even touched my hooks today, (not good). I guess it has to do with all the eating that has been done 'round here in the last few days. Even though I am a vegetarian and don't really eat the turkey, it still has it's effects. Or maybe it's just a general case of food coma. Whatever the case may be, absolutely nothing has gotten done today. Except maybe for this post.
Actually, I did bake a lil ol cake yesterday. The recipe came frome one of my Chilean cook books. It's a twist on an old fashioned homey kinda cake. The kind my mother in law use to bake for her family as a special breakfast treat on Sabbath mornings.

I also want to share with you a couple of things that I've completed recently.
You know, those "just because I felt like it" little things.
Oh yes, and I won't forget to post my cake recipe for my friend Lorena.

First I'd like to introduce you to Helga, my miniature Elephant, isn't she adorable? Only problem is that now she is lost, for the life of me I can't remember where I put her. Helga please come home!!!

Something girlie for me!!!

And finally, quequito con cafesito for Mr. W and me.

The recipe:

Queque casero  (Homey cake)
 1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 large egg
13/4 cups low protein flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 buttermilk ( I use 2%)
1 tspn lemon or orange zest
1 tspn vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
1 tspn confectioners sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Mix the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and mix well. Stir in the flour and baking powder, alternating with the buttermilk. Add the lemon/orange zest, vanilla and pecans, stir to mix.
Pour the batter into a well buttered and floured loaf pan, bake 40 to 45 minutes. insert tooth pick in center to check for doneness
Dust with powdered sugar if desired. cool well before slicing or it will fall apart like mine did. (we couldn't wait)     :)
Note; this is a very thick batter, I like to add a bit more milk to make it creamier.

And that my dears just about sums up my Sunday.
Have a super great week everyone!!!!

P.S Let me know how it turns out Lory!!!
