:: Weekend Bliss ::

They wowed my weekend these two girls of ours.

Last weekend we got to spend precious quality time with Amelia and Ireland. And what fun we had!!!
Saturday afternoon after lunch and naps, they played a ferocious game of soccer with their Papa. I don't think I've ever seen a two year old kick a ball that way, she becomes airborne when she kicks.
And Amelia has so much energy that it was very difficult to keep up with her while video taping.

On Saturday evening after a light supper and a cuddle session with Papa, it was off to get their jammies on and movie night.
We watched Enchanted, oh my these two princesses were in fairy tale heaven, there were a few parts of the movie that I should've fast forwarded but a quick hand over the eyes for the little one was enough (ooh, scary).

Sunday morning was a calm, late, breakfast cartoon morning. Then off to our local farmers market, which very conveniently sets up right in front of our local Barnes and Noble, ( they love visiting the bookstore ). A visit to the ice cream shop, then back home to lunch, ( ice cream before lunch, only at Papa and Mimi's ).
All in all we had a great weekend and totally enjoyed our granddaughters.

They are two of the sweetest, loving, and totally awesome little princesses ever.

Did I get any yarny stuff done? Absolutely not!!! But it didn't even come to mind.

Have a great rest of your week!!!

:: Little Things ::

Wow! This week is sure going by quickly, but they always do after a Monday holiday. And I hope everyone had a good one.
Mine was calm and mellow. With the usual grilling and eating outside.
Lots of watermelon and sticky little hands made it a very traditional Memorial day weekend.

I've been very lazy about crocheting lately, maybe it's the beautiful spring weather that makes me just want to sit outside and enjoy the perfect 80 degree temperature. Who knows.
Still, I have managed to finish a few things, and have a bit of fun with some left over yarn.
I was inspired by my dear friend Lory at Lorybeatblog. Last week she posted a picture of her table set for tea, ( I love the whole British tea thing) and her tea cozy is adorable, I instantly fell in love with it. So, I decided to give it a try, and make a cozy for my tiny tea pot (two cups). And voila!!! There you have it. Not too shabby eh???

Then, there is the birdy bag which I started to crochet back in February to give to my daughter as a birthday gift (back in March). Well let's just say that it turned out to be a very belated B-day gift. She loved it of course. You can find the the pattern for this bag at Futuregirl.com hers is called the Starling bag. Of course, I always make little changes here and there, in this case I made the handles a bit longer, and added the bird appliqué ( my daughter loves birds ). I think I'll have to make one for myself. :)

And that is just about it for now, I think I will try to do a bit of sewing this week, and maybe finish a few things that are on my needles. But for now, back to my cup of coffee, and a bit of reading.

Take care, and have a fantastic day everyone!!!!

:: Happy Memorial Day :;

Remembering those who have given of their service and in many instances their lives for the freedom and safety we now enjoy in this great country.
Thank you to all the men and women in uniform.
And in a very special way a great big thank you to my big brother David for all the years (22) of service and dedication while serving in the United States Army.

May God protect you and keep you on your your latest tour on the USNS Mercy.

:: More Lazy Ripples ::

Hiya!!!!

Just a short note to let y'all know what has been going on in Mimiland. Oh what lazy warm spring, almost summer days these have been!!!

I've got another ripple blanket on my hook, a knitted poncho on my needles, and a gazillion patterns to choose from for my next project.

For now my ripple blanket is all I dare share, :-/.
The poncho is a true challenge, if it turns out half way decent I'll share it with you. But for now, I'll continue to work on the Chocolate Berry Blanket, I call it that because the colors remind me of Cherry Cordials, you know, those chocolates with sweet syrup and a cherry inside. Mmm

That's it for now me ladies, have a fantastic rest of your week. :)

:: Collecting ::

Good morning my friends!!!

Wow!!! We are already halfway through May. With summer just around the corner I decided to do a bit of spring cleaning.
First on my list is my kitchen of course.
I got a few things done, but one thing that I enjoyed doing was moving my ceramics collection to a sunny spot by the kirchen door.
I have lately taken for granted these much cherished pieces. Back in the 90's I use to spend hours in antique and junk shops looking for anything Fiesta, Bauer, Franciscan, Frankoma, and other pottery and ceramics from the 40's and 50's. I managed to purchase a few nice pieces. V When my family realized that I collected, well, they too were always on the look out.
But, after a while I got sidetracked and started doing other things, and sort of put my lovely old bowls aside. I stopped collecting altogether.

Yesterday, I took them all out their obscure little corner, washed and dried each piece carefully by hand, and gave them a new home on a shelf near a picture window. Wow!!! How the colors jumped out at me, the greens , blues, yellows!!! They seem to look brighter and happier in their new spot by the sunny door.
I guess my appreciation for these sturdy old kitchen essentials has been renewed. I imagine the women who used them, wearing their house coats, curlers in their hair and beautifully embroidered aprons. (post WWII). A beautiful era gone by.
Maybe I'll look through my cupboards and see what other things I've forgotten. And maybe I'll be inspired to once again go out and hunt down a few new/old pieces to add to my collection.
For now, I will sit at my kitchen table, enjoying my morning cup o' joe, and admire my little piece of the past.

Have a great day!!!

:: SHE WEARS IT WELL ::

Good Monday!!!!

I hope that everyone had a great weekend, and an even better Mothers Day (where applicable).

My mothers day was good, especially since I was with those I love.

This morning I just want to share with you a pic of the little Miss. modeling her new dress. She liked it of course, and it will fit well into the fall months. Even though Ireland is two and a half years old, she is still in size 18 to 24 months.
This dress is made in a 24 month size and is still a bit big on her (yes, my gauge was right on). She is very petite.

Now, on to my next project. I've been knitting lately so everything takes twice as long, but hopefully this week I'll be able to share a little knitted something or other with you.
For now, I wish everyone a wonderful week. :).
