:: More Grannies ::

Good Monday everyone!!!
Today will be a very hot day in my neck of the woods, about 104 to be more precise, so it will be a day of staying indoors, blasting the AC and trying to get a few crochet projects finished.

This mess of grannies will turn out to be a blanket for a baby boy that will be born in October.
An acquaintance of mine decided to have another baby now that her first is 11 yrs. old. (its finally sinking in) says she. A few weeks ago she told me that she has not yet made any baby purchases or made up a nursery. She works two jobs and hasn't had much time.
So, I thought I'd give her a bit of a jumpstart and some encouragement.
And besides, sometimes it's irresistible
not to make newborn things. Especially when I can make grannies and use up leftovers from my stash.

I hope to be able to share this with you by weeks end. (fingers crossed)

For now, I wish everyone a fantastic week!!!! XOXO

:: I'm back ::

Well, it sure has been a strange month, this last one. July is and has always been busy and unpredictable for me.
I had a few things to deal with lately, some of which have spilled right into August. But all will be fine again. (fingers crossed).

Even so, I have been getting a little crocheting done, for one, I finally finished that big round colorful thing that I wrote about in my last post.
A cover for a banana leaf storage container. I made this for my daughter Katherine. You see her kitty Frodo, used it for a nail sharpener and almost destroyed the lid completely. So, of course she requested a cover for for it. And voila!! There you have it. Cute huh?

Next is Mr. Sssssslithers. I started this snake back in October to give as a Christmas present, but I got caught up with other things and never got a chance to finish it. So since the little recipient of this snake has recently gone through surgery, I decided that a cuddle toy was in order. So Mr. Ssssssslithers finally got a head, eyes, and tongue. And my grandson Julian got a cuddle toy to see him through his recovery. (I apologize for the bad pic)

Well my darlins, I guess this will be all for now. Hoping to get back to my regular posts real soon.

Take care, and have a fantastic weekend. :)

Happy Friday!!!!

Hello!!!
Just a quick note to say hi.
It sure has been a strange week. You know, with a holiday smack dab in the middle. But busy none the less.
I've been working on a few " just for the fun of it" things and trying to finish a couple of old WIP's .
I will share a few things with next week.

For now, have a wonderful weekend, and many blessings to one and all.

4th of July, another excuse to crochet.

Hello everyone,
I know, this is totally strange, I rarely ever blog on Saturdays. It is usually a very busy day around here. But today I am at home all by my lonesome just relaxing. It's so quiet I can hear a feather drop.
For the last couple of weeks I have been very busy crocheting blue and white outfits for my granddaughters to wear on the 4th. (their mama can throw in whatever red she wants)

This week I finished Milla's tunic top. I just love the navy blue and white combination, it's so classic. She can wear this over a red tee and blue leggings, or just over white with a red hair accessory. I preferred navy blue and white because after the holiday is over it is still very wearable.

This pattern is from the crochet today
July/August 2008 issue, same as the baby dress I made for Ireland. I think I'll put that magazine away for a while.

It was a very good week indeed, we had the grandchildren over for two days. I can't get enough of them sometimes.
The girls are so girly and giggly, and Julian is such a boy. It was an all around good week.

I leave you with pics of my latest crochet, and one of Julian beating Papa at chess.

Have a great rest of your weekend!!!

:: The $1.97 Dress ::

It doesn't seem like $2.00 can go very far these days, everything is so expensive, I remember back when my husband and I were starting our family, we did $45.00 worth of groceries every week. That included diapers and formula.
These days, we go to the store to pick up a "few things" and the total is never ever less than $80.00.

But last week I found this lonely little skein of baby yarn at Joann's for $1.97.

I thought there wasn't much I could do with it, but it's amazing how far 6ozs of baby yarn can go.

Ireland will have a new outfit to wear on the 4th of July. Paired with a big red bow for her hair and some red sandals ( the ribbon is navy blue) she will be ready for some major celebrating.

I made this same dress for her in a 3 to 6 month size when she was just an infant. It is a pattern from the July/August 2008 issue of Crochet Today.
This dress is made in 24 month size. Even though Ireland is 2.5 years old she is very petit and still fits into some 18 to 24 month clothing.

Can you imagine something so cute for only two bucks!!! And a bit of Mimilove of course. :0)
