:: Hiya!!! ::

Hello everyone,

Well, march is almost gone, and even though I've had to deal with a bad cold, and an even worse flu, I feel like the month has been productive.

My darling daughter Katherine always manages to make the strangest requests. This time in the form of a stone cozy, (sometimes I really do wonder about that girl.)

Of course, my latest granny is almost done, hopefully I'll share that with you before the weeks end.

And last but never least, it was all about Miss. Ireland last week.
I don't know why but I have the impression that she is always cold. So, of course she needed a warm, thick and chunky 3/4 sleeve cardi.
This sweater was very easy to make. I think I whipped it up in a couple of hours. The yarn was so soft, and fun to work with. :). She of course liked it, and her mommy loved it.

Well, ladies, I will keep this one short, it is now about 10:16 pm, and my NyQuil is kicking in, yaaaaawwwwn. :0.

Have a great and blessed rest of your week. Hugs for one and all!!!

:: My Latest ::

Good morning everyone!!!

It seems like its been forever since my last post, not that my hook hasn't been busy at work, it has just been other things keeping me from sharing.

But it's Monday morning, and a new week to look forward to.

Well as you can see from my pictures it has been all about Miss. Amelia lately.
She needed a nice, warm, girly poncho for school. Since the school uniform requires a navy blue hoodie or jacket, I thought it would be ok for her to wear a poncho in the required color. The flowers on the draw string ties make it fun and not-so-uniformy looking.
She of course loved it!!! And will be wearing for a school field trip today. ( I think).

And since leftover yarn is always available in these parts, I kinda made a matching pencil case which I will put in her Easter basket.

Other than this, my granny blanket is coming along nicely, I will share a bit of that later.
Today, I will look into staring a new spring project. Got any ideas????

Ciao for now my friends.
Have a great Rest of your week!!!!

Observing Spring growth.

Hello everyone. It has been almost two weeks since my last post. Aside from catching up on some reading, I have also been working on a few crochet projects. But most of all I've been enjoying watching my backyard bloom. We have had a few beautiful spring like days. This means, lunch or coffee on the patio, and just hanging out outside.
Also making a mental list of all that needs to be done, you know, weeding, removing unwanteds, replanting, etc.
But the one thing that I look forward to year after year is watching my Wisteria bloom, it grows over our trellis. Wisteria blooms on its bear wood, so the effect of these beautiful hanging flowers on the silvery wood is breathtaking. Not to mention the strong heady aroma.
As the blooms begin to die off and fall, it almost looks like snow falling, it just takes a soft breeze. :)
In my opinion, every stage of this vine is beautiful. When the leaves fully come in, we get the best summertime shade ever. At a later date I will let you all know what happens in the fall.

For now back to my crochet.
Enjoy the pics!!

Have a great rest of your week. ;)

:: Fun Crochet ::

Hello Ladies,

Wow! We're getting closer to the weekend, and I must say that it is already spring out here in Southern Cali. Everything is blooming, especially my wisteria. Yesterday I sat under my trellis and enjoyed the sweet aroma of the blooms. I crocheted to my hearts delight. :)

This morning I decided to make something fun, so, inspired by my darling, sweet, barefoot, beach jogging daughter, I made a surfer chick beanie.
Whaddaya think, cute, huh?

With no one else to model it, well, you guessed it, cest moi!!!! (eek!!! No make up!!!!)

Well, my dears, I will go out of doors now to enjoy the rest of this beautiful 78 degree spring day.

Ciao!!! Hugs/abrazos !!!!!

:) Here I go again. (: More Grannymania!!!

Hello ladies!!!

Wow, it's been a few days since my last post. Not that I've run out of things to write about, but lately my blog has not allowed me to post anything successfully, especially from my PC.
I wanted to share a few of the things that I worked on before valentines day, but, I wasn't able to write a text and save it. Sooooo, I've decided to share from my phone. My other projects I uploaded onto my computer. So until I can figure out where the problem lies, I'll use my phone camera.

I decided to start another blanket, the reason is that I need more neutral colors in my living room. Don't get me wrong, I love bright, happy colors, but try as I may to accomplish that look, it just doesn't work for me right now.

I generally prefer different shades of white, soft beige, soft greens, powdery blues, some shades of pink, and even a little pale aqua. The brights are very pretty, but, I'll stick to what I already have for now.
So, my granny throw, will have very little yellow, soft green, white, and light brown. I would like to add another round of color, but I haven't yet decided what that will be.
I'm really not too crazy about the brown, but I think can soften it up a bit.

I have also been working on a couple of birthday gifts, but I will share those later.

For now, back to my grannies.

Have a great rest of your week!!!! :)

:: Dr. Watson scarf, TaDa!!! ::

Good Monday everyone!!!
I hope y'all had a fine weekend.
I spent most of mine crocheting, watching the tube, and just hanging out with Mr. W.
I was able to finish a few things, and start a few others. So yes, I've been trying to keep busy.
But today, as promised, I bring you the Dr. Watson scarf. I knitted this for my son who will be turning 33 on Wednesday.

I am a very beginner knitter, so yes, it has it's little flaws here and there. But over all it's not too shabby.

I made the scarf with an acrylic yarn, because there is no way a single guy is going to hand wash anything.

The scarf measures a generous 71" fringe not included. A good length for a guy that is about 5'10" tall.

I hope he likes it, he is the only one of my sons that will wear a scarf just to be fashionable. :)

Anyway, this is it for today. Later this week I will share a few other things with you.

Take care, and have a blessed week.

:) Anna (:

:: Locks of Love and Milla ::

Good morning world!!!!

This has been quite a week!!! Somedays are good, some not so. But, I am happy for the weekend. Good things happen on weekends. :)

One good and tender thing did happen this week. My granddaughter Amelia got a haircut!!!! But it wasn't just a "I want a change in my look haircut", it was more of "I want to make a difference", haircut.

For sometime now I have been growing out my hair so that I can donate it to Locks of Love.

"Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers."

Locks of Love

Well, I have a ways to go, hopefully by years end I will have a 10" pony tail to chop off and donate.

Milla, on the other hand has for sometime now been debating about whether or not to cut hair waist long hair. It's not easy for a 6yr. old to come to this decision.
But upon learning how her hair would, benefit another child, she was more than happy to do it.
So off to the beauty salon they went. Mommy, Milla, Luli, and Ireland.
After all such an event is certainly shared with siblings.
You can see the smile on her face as she holds her pony tail.
And and even bigger smile after it was dried and styled. ( no more painful detangling.)

I am very proud of my Milla. This will certainly be a life changing event for her, and even more so for the happy recipient. I will keep everyone posted on the outcome. Sometimes Locks of Love sends pictures of the child who benefited from the donation.

Next week I will post a few little things I've been working on. And of course the scarf.

Blessings to all, and have a great weekend. :)

P.S. I want to add that this is a big thing in my family. Both my mother and sister are breast cancer survivors, so I know how difficult it is for cancer patients when they loose all their hair due to chemo.
