~ Santa's Secret Workshop ~

Lately I feel like one of Santa's little elves. :)

Working on Xmas gifts for the grandchildren has kept me very busy indeed. I started these projects kinda late in the season, so now I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. But, I wouldn't have it any other way!!! I work really well under pressure, (yes, I confess to having an adrenaline addiction, hahaha!!!!).
Now what is that stripey thing that looks like a bag, you ask? Well, let's just say it's NOT a bag. It will become a cuddly something or other for a little someone. It is actually the second of a pair. Some of my little people like to have the same toys. (girls).
As you can see in the background those grannies are still a big part of the picture, I have only five more to make before I put them all together.
Well my dears, back to my Elfin activities. I will keep y'all posted, and yes, I will post pics as soon ad I'm done.

:: Grannymania Inspiration ::

Hello there y'all!!!!

Please let me know if I've gone too far with the granny thing???
But, oh what the heck. I have rediscovered these simple little squares and now I just can't get enough of them.

Recently on one of my trips to Barnes and Noble I was going over all of the crochet books, (I think I own most of them) when I came across a new one, or at least new to me.
"Granny Square Love" just caught my eye!!! The colors, the very creative way that Sarah London uses her grannies, I was in granny heaven. But, I walked out of the store with out the book, thinking to myself, why do I need a book about crocheting grannies?
I can whip one up in just a few minutes, and with my eyes closed.

Well, I should've known better. Because the moment that I got home I wanted to go back and get the book and add it to my crafty library. This book is a great inspiration for anyone who thinks grannies are boring and old fashion, it has lots of great ideas and new ways to use these cute multicolored little squares.

Long story short, glad I didn't, get it at the bookstore, Amazon has it for about $5.00 less. So, of course, one click, two clicks, and 3 days later the book was in my mailbox. Man I love online shopping!!!! (at least for books)

So many grannies, so little time!!!!!

P.S I have a few things on my hook, of the none granny type, but I'm debating in my mind, "to blog or not to blog", since they will be Christmas gifts. I wouldn't want to spoil anyones surprise, hmmmm.

:: Grannymania Voila!!!! ::

Hello there my dear friends!!!

After more or less a week of fighting off a terrible cold, flu, type thing I am back on my feet.
What I don't get is that not more than a month ago I was sick as heck. Hmmm.

Well, even though I was a total zombie (meds)  for a few days, I did somehow manage to finish my granny project.
It really isn't a big deal, but it was one of those projects that just kept running away from me. I either had other things to do, or I had to stop and get sick, once or twice.  :(

These little cardies were made for great nephew and niece twins Marcus and Octavia.
They are now about 7 months old, and oh so cute!!!  The cardies are size 6 to 12 months so I know they will fit for a while. And I really enjoyed making and embellishing the little beanies. I especially like the over sized flower, so girlie!!!

I decided not to match up the buttons, Idon't particularly  like the  "mitchy matchy"  look.
The pattern for the sweater came from a little booklet I purchased at my local craft store, and the beanie pattern came from, 'Baby Crochet" by Lois Daykin.

I am still on my granny mania thing, so let's see what new things I will come up with.

:: Grannymania update ::

Hello my dears,

A quick hello, and an even quicker update on my latest "grannymania" project.

I've been a bit busy doing other things, you know, those things in life that absolutely must get done, :( so I haven't done much crocheting lately.
But, I have managed to catch up on my grannies.
Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to put them all together. I can't wait to finally finish and show y'all what I've been up to.

:: Last Weekend ::

Wow!! I can't believe I finally have the computer allllll to myself!!!!
Explain you say?...... Well,  Mr. W. works from home, and we have just one desk top which we share, lately it's been all work, work, work. Which means I'd better hurry, because once he gets home it's Work, work all over again.  (maybe Santa will bring me an ipad for xmas, hmmmm)

Last weekend was great!!! So many things went on in our home, First we had a very delightful weekend visit from our granddaughter Pia. She lives in Arizona, and  we see her just a few times a year, so when she comes out to Cali it's always a Piafest. This visit was even more special because we celebrated her 6th birthday. It was a small family affair with a few little people, but I know she had a blast.

On Saturday night she had a sleepover with her bestest cousin Milla, (her only female cousin). And on Sunday they helped me make pastel de choclo for the Laguna Niguel Academy food fair.

We all had a grand time. Except one thing, I forgot to take the camera to the fair and so I have no pics of the booths, the children performing, or even the authentic hula dancers, bum!!!     :(

But I will share what pics I do have.

On Sunday, the girls and I, with a little help from Papa, cooked all morning. We made two pastel de choclo, (corn and meat casserole) for the food fair. Traditionally, ground beef is used, in my version, I used meatless, gluten based vegetable protein. Chicken is also used, but since I and many of the folks at the fair are vegetarian, I skipped the meat altogether. My daughter was very suprised at how flavorful it turned out, "you can't tell it's not real beef Mom".

Remember, I am not Chilean, soooo this is the best I could do.

The corn topping,consists of fresh grated corn, (I was lucky to find yellow corn) fresh chopped basil, cooked with milk and butter seasoned to taste with salt.

Of course the girls helped,  ;)  Mardi Gras mask and all.

Sprinkle with sugar and bake, I think they stayed in the oven a bit too long, (my bad).
Not too shabby for a non Chilean!!!  It went well at the food fair, my daughter made the most delicious Chilean, tomato and onion salad, and by the end of the day it was all pretty much gone.

It was a great weekend, to say the least. Fun family times always leave me feeling warm and fuzzy for a while, or at least until next time.

What I've been up to

It's been almost a week since my last post. I am happy to say that the flu is just about gone. I feel a bit tired but, I'm back to  being me again. (Mr. W. is a great nurse).

Well as you all must know, not even a flu can keep a crochet fanatic from her hook, yes, I did do some hooking, headache, fever, body aches, and all.   I started a special something for my mom, worked on my grannies, did some fun crochet and knitting, and yes I finally finished my huge colorfulful Attic24 inspired blanket. So, whadda ya think?

I forgot to measure , but lets just say that it pretty much covers the top of my king size bed.

I have a big couch, and this baby hangs over the backside,

Happy to be doing well, and even happier that it was not so bad that I couldn't  crochet. A lot more to come, so stay tuned, till the next episode. ( I just had to say that)     :0)
