Baby Liberty sweater completed!!!
Oh and BTW, standing next to baby is yours truly wearing the finished alternative denim skirt.
The pattern came from the Happy Hooker book by Debbie Stoller. I did sort of tweak it a bit. But not much.
Will post on that later.
Bye for now, and have a great rest of your day!!!

The swing that Papa built.
My husband (Papa to the grand children) on the other hand is always conjuring up some grand large scale project.
For about the past 9 years we had a small plastic baby swing which we purchased at Toys r Us. You know the kind with a lock in tray which you can hang from the backyard trellis. Many a cranky babies were put to sleep while being swung from that little plastic blessing. :-)
Well, I think it was late last summer when Julian decided to jump on the swing for a while and as he swung back and forth we noticed the stress on the trellis structure, ( things started to creak and crackle up there) then, he decided to bend over and look down at his toes, that is when the swing flipped forward and.....
..... Well let's just say it was a close call.
Well down came the baby swing.
I think that even before the Julian incident Papa already had the swing designed in his head. So, he had his guy at the shop fabricate the steel parts, last week we went out and purchased wood, nuts, and bolts.
He dug the holes for the footings, not and easy task since that side of the yard is almost all solid granite.
And finally yesterday, he mixed and poured the cement, and VOILA !!!
It will be ready to enjoy by next weekend.
Have a great rest of your day!!!

Mimi's 5 loves "aka The Goof Troop
They had a wonderful time at the beach, they played, got wet, were cold, and then they did it all over again.
When the sun began to hide away we started a bonfire, made s'mores, and just sat around watching the fire and being a family. An evening to remember forever.
And here they are in order of appearance:
Oliver and Julian about to jump into the pacific Ocean!!!
Amelia "aka" Milla, isn't she lovely?
Our little Pia, the reason for this beach day, she lives out of state. and was visiting for two weeks.
And last but not least.........
Little Miss. Ireland, the latest addition, and what a little personality she is!!!
It was a lovely funfilled day, I hope that it will happen again real soon.
Have a great 4th of July, and an excellent rest of your week!!!

Voila!!!! The Baby Liberty Sweater is finished
This sweater was crocheted for my youngest grandaughter Ireland to wear on Independance day.
I crocheted the sweater out of Bernat Satin yarn, in a half double crochet, with only the edges done up in a single crochet stitch.
It is my first design so I still have to see how it will fit. If all goes well and the fit is good I will write a pattern.
I had lot's of fun making this little sweater. and feel very encouraged to design more.
Pictures of baby Ireland wearing the sweater will follow after the holiday, so stay tuned.
Have safe and fun holiday every one!!!!!
Have a great rest of your day,
Anna

Baby Liberty Sweater, Progress
Hope to be done by Friday so she can wear it on the fourth.
Even though Southern Cali has nice daytime weather, evenings can get pretty darn cool, especially where my daughter and her family live close to the ocean. This sweater (if all goes well) should keep Ireland nice and cozy.
Will post pics of the little one modeling her sweater after the holidays.
Bye for now. :)

Our Peach Tree
Last year I had a nice backyard with a beautiful collection of roses, some I had named after my grandchildren and some after loved ones.
Last mothers day (2010) my daughter, son in law and grandchildren gave me a wheel barrow full of veggies to plant. (total happiness)!!!!
It all started one morning in late spring, as is my morning routine during the spring months, I took my coffee outside, breathed in the cool morning air, and proceeded to water my plants.
Well, at first I noticed that a few of my roses looked a bit wilted, this is strange since everything around here gets watered every other day, but oh well, I flooded my backyard and thought nothing of it.
That same evening as we sat outside enjoying the cool evening breeze, again I noticed that my tomatoes didn't look as perky, Hmmmm, more water.
Something wasn't right. For some reason which I now don't remember, I decided to shake one the rose bushes,
to my surprise it just fell over and we discovered that it had no roots!!!
Long story short, my entire rose and veggie garden was eaten up by gophers!! We never imagined that such small critters could cause so much damage. We have had to start from scratch.
This little peach tree survived because it was in a planter. My husband also managed to save our lemon tree. ( it's now in a planter)
I am still battling those horrible little rat things, :-(. but they can't get to this little guy (gophers can't dig through granite). I know there are only eight small peaches, and that this year I won't be making peach pie, but they will not enjoy a single fruit from our peach tree.
Have a great rest of your evening!!!!

Baby Liberty Sweater
I am attempting to design a boatneck sweater for baby Ireland to wear on Independence Day, if it works out I will write and post a pattern, in the meantime I have to work quickly to finish it on time.
I apologize for the bad picture, it was taken with my phone camera on our way to the beach in a sports car going at about 75mph. :-/
Will post better pics later.
Bye for now, have a great rest of your day!!!!!!
