One more holiday. :)
It is the day when supposedly the wise men found baby Jesus and offered him gifts.
Traditionally children leave fresh grass in a shoe box under their beds for the wise men's camels to eat after their long journey. The wise men in return leave gifts for the children.
There are many different traditions surrounding this holiday. Most I am not familiar with, but I do know that there is party and merry making the entire day.
As a very small child I can remember leaving grass under my bed. And waking up to find a beautiful rag doll.(the only time I actually remember) I wish that I would have continued this tradition with my own children. Although I don't remember to much about it. It seems like a nice holiday, or Little Christmas.
Tomorrow I will call my mom and ask her about the specifics.
For now, have a great weekend, and to those who are familiar with this day, Feliz dia de Reyes!!!

:: In the meantime ::
I hope that everyone had a wonderful end of 2011, and an even better new years day.
Mine was quiet and serene, and that's just how I like it. First, we had new years eve dinner with the youngest boy and his girlfriend, we made it home just in time to watch the ball drop in Time Square. (for my time zone).
New years day, was great, 85 gorgeous degrees, a walk on the beach, and our favorite pizza, Originals in Newport Beach, mmmm. :)
I am still trying to figure out what will be my next big crochet project. So, in the meantime, I decided that a little organizing would be a great idea, and what better way to start then with little catch all baskets. This one I'm making with Lily's Sugar and cream scented cotton yarn. It smells soft and flowery, so feminine.
Maybe it will hold some make up, or little hand towels in the bathroom. I'm not to sure yet. But I do know that I'll be making up a couple more this week. They are sooooo easy to make, and the scented yarn makes it even more enjoyable.
So, while I look for something big and significant to make, I will continue with my little baskets, and whatever little else comes to mind.
Wishing everyone a fantabulous first week of 2012!!!

~ A Brownie Afternoon ~
So I decided that instead of fighting it I'd better darn well accept it.
Once again I have a cold/flu thing. ( I never really know what to call it)
Haven't felt like doing much, so I decided to make brownies. There is something about the smell of chocolate baking, that makes it easier to lay around and do absolutely nothing. (whether one likes it or not)
You see it is my opinion that chocolate is the true cure for all of life's maladies. Even if you can't taste them (the brownies, that is) because your nose is so stuffed that even air tastes like nothing. Even if you really shouldn't have one, because they are only good with a tall cold glass of milk, and cold milk is not recommended when you have a cold as bad as mine.
So there they will sit, my plate full of brownies, waiting to be eaten, except that the only other person living in this household is not too keen on chocolate.
Well, my friends, I guess for now, I will go through my yarn stash, to figure out what my first crochet project of the year will be. And maybe that will keep my mind off the brownies that I now realize I should have never made to begin with. Does any of this make sense to you????
Have a great rest of your day everyone!!!

:: Merry Christmas Birthday ::
Today is very special because of the reason for this joyous day, whether or not our Messiah Jesus was born on this day or not is irrelevant. What counts is that we remember that the greatest gift ever given to mankind is the gift of grace and eternal life through his son Jesus.
"For G-D so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16
On another note, I have another person who is very special to me who happens to have a birthday today.
This person is my wonderful and loving father. Yes, My dad was born on Christmas day eighty years ago. Words could never express how much I love this thoughtful, caring, dedidated, funny, and always there for me no matter what, man. He taught me to love, appreciate and always be thankful for even the smallest of blessings. Mr. C is one of the biggest lights of my life.
Today, He is far, and I could not be with him or the rest of my loved ones in Chicago, but I do want to dedicate a part of my Christmas post to him. I love you immensly papi!!!!

:: Muffins, Giraffes, and Coffee, oh my!!!
It's as though time seems to fly when there is a lot to be done.
Two and a half days till Christmas!!!
This morning I still have three small gifts to finish up. So, in order to charge my battery I decided to bake myself some simple muffins to have with my coffee. I actually got the idea from the "To Sew with Love" blog. Leilani's muffins (or magdalenas as she calls them) looked so yummy that I decided to try my own recipe. Mmmm. Not too shabby. :)
Well, two cups of coffee and two muffins later, and we have a cute little giraffe for...... ......well, that's a secret.
I have really enjoyed my holiday crocheting, but if I ever decide to do this again I will definitely start earlier in the year. I never knew that my fingers could cramp from doing something that is usually a relaxing therapy for me.
Even so, I've enjoyed every minute of it.
This giraffe we will name Geraldine, the little person who will receive her is very fond of animals. So, I know this one will be appreciated.
I got the pattern from Lion Brand Yarns, but I did tweak it a little. It is soooo easy, even a giraffe can do it!!!!
Well my dears on to my next task,
Sewing lining into tiny bags.
Have a great rest of your day, and G~D bless. :)
