:: Busy Busy Busy ::

Good evening ladies,

Boy have I been busy!!!! My fingers have sure had a work out lately.

Today will be another short post, because between the everyday things that need to get done, and the Christmas preparations, I have been driving myself nuts. A good happy kinda nuts of course. You know the candied kind?

Well, I won't reveal much, but let's just say, that it's all coming together just great. I know that the little recipients of these gifts will love them. And I have sure learned a lot about what the kiddies are into these days. I hear that even some adults are into this type of thing.

That's all I can say for now.

Have a great rest of your week!!!!

~Three little trees~

Good evening all!!!
It is about 9:13 pm in my neck of the woods, and I'm snuggly warm in my pj's. I'm calling it a day kind of early today.
This post is via my iPhone so the picture is not so great.
I leave you with my three little Xmas trees, I made these from leftover yarn from last years winter sweater.
Some thing I came up with on a whim, and so far the only seasonal decorations I've put up.
Take care, and have a great weekend.

Cristmas Grannymania ::

Good afternoon everyone!!!
Here we go again  another lazy Sunday here at Mimiloves. I was suppose to do some baking, but the hooky got the best of me, so I've done nothing but crochet, most of the day, well, I did make some delicious chicken soup, and I did manage to get out of my p.j's. at about noon. That my dears is rare for me since I'm usually dressed and ready to go by 9:00 am regardless of wheather I have to go anywhere or not.  I guess that goes with the life style of an "empty nester".  :0)

In my last post I mentioned something about a granny something or other on my hook.
Well, you know that book I recently purchased? Granny Square Love? Looking for something christmasy to make I found the cutest stocking in my granny book. It is really simple to make, and it crochets up very qiuckly in a bulky yarn. So I couldn't resist. And since my grandson Oliver needed a new stocking, well, you all know the rest.
If I didn't have so many gifts to turn out by the 24th, I would make one for everyone I know!!!

I have a few small things going all at once, but I'll share those later on this week.

My Oli, he looks tired, but still very happy with his new Xmas stocking.

I wish I'd taken better pictures, but I finished the stocking just before Oliver"s daddy picked him up, and they where in a big hurry of course. But, you get the picture.

This is it for today
For now, have a great week. And don't forget during this busy holiday season to stop and be thankful for every blessing.
Ciao for now!!!!

:: Twin Owlies ::

Good morning my dearies!!!!

This is indeed a good morning for I am finally done with two of my Christmas gifts.
I don't know if I mentioned it before, but I have certainly caught the amigurumi bug. I had no idea that creating little characters out of yarn could be so much fun!!!  And of course with Christmas being so close, I have been at it full time, and enjoying every minute of it.                                                                             Now that's not to say that I have abandoned my grannies. No, no, no, I already have a granny related little something on my hook, and a lap blanket ready to be assembled and finished.  All part of  "Santas Secret Workshop".
Well without any further ado, I present you with Tootsie and Lolly;

Tootsie and Lolly

I think they are adorable, don't  you???
I would like to credit and thank Mr. W.  for the great photos.

And now back to work, two more little critters to be finished and whatever else comes to mind after that.

Bye for now my dears, have a great rest of your lovely day.     ;0)

:: Missing Elephant has been found ::

This just in,

Helga, the amigurumi Elephant which had been missing since Thanksgiving day has been found.
She was hiding deep in the warm coziness of my scarf drawer. How she got there still remains a mystery. All I know is that she is in very good shape, with not one stitch missing.

Have a good one y'all

:: It's the small things ::

Good evening to all !!!

I can't believe what a slow and laaaazy Sunday this has been. I have barely even touched my hooks today, (not good). I guess it has to do with all the eating that has been done 'round here in the last few days. Even though I am a vegetarian and don't really eat the turkey, it still has it's effects. Or maybe it's just a general case of food coma. Whatever the case may be, absolutely nothing has gotten done today. Except maybe for this post.
Actually, I did bake a lil ol cake yesterday. The recipe came frome one of my Chilean cook books. It's a twist on an old fashioned homey kinda cake. The kind my mother in law use to bake for her family as a special breakfast treat on Sabbath mornings.

I also want to share with you a couple of things that I've completed recently.
You know, those "just because I felt like it" little things.
Oh yes, and I won't forget to post my cake recipe for my friend Lorena.

First I'd like to introduce you to Helga, my miniature Elephant, isn't she adorable? Only problem is that now she is lost, for the life of me I can't remember where I put her. Helga please come home!!!

Something girlie for me!!!

And finally, quequito con cafesito for Mr. W and me.

The recipe:

Queque casero  (Homey cake)
 1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 large egg
13/4 cups low protein flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 buttermilk ( I use 2%)
1 tspn lemon or orange zest
1 tspn vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
1 tspn confectioners sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Mix the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and mix well. Stir in the flour and baking powder, alternating with the buttermilk. Add the lemon/orange zest, vanilla and pecans, stir to mix.
Pour the batter into a well buttered and floured loaf pan, bake 40 to 45 minutes. insert tooth pick in center to check for doneness
Dust with powdered sugar if desired. cool well before slicing or it will fall apart like mine did. (we couldn't wait)     :)
Note; this is a very thick batter, I like to add a bit more milk to make it creamier.

And that my dears just about sums up my Sunday.
Have a super great week everyone!!!!

P.S Let me know how it turns out Lory!!!
